Edit Aug 16 2:12pm **Added notation***: (As per Jasonbt49's topic point) It is a completely understandable viewpoint that due to TTK coming out that Year One gear to an unknown degree will be not "as valid" (or completely invalid for all we know, Bungie has only suggested "not deleting year one gear" but hasn't specified anything more). Please keep in mind the "Year one gear example" and references to "year one gear" in the video are in fact there because if the "Legacy Etchings" existed during year one, the "Gear telling a story", and Smiths mentioned problem the Devs were/are facing MAY have been solved then (during year one), and if implemented MAY be solved by what we are voting in as a community here for the future of "Year Two". This is why you as community and what is discussed here is valid. Year ones lack of what is suggested here going forward can change the future of this game... with just your input. Ty

-----------Community contributed ideas
(This section is your contributions)
•OdysseusXIII: Etching/s adding a perk column or perk achievable via achievements (example: A boss defeated gives an etching that when applied adds a 3-5% damage boost against that bosses nemesis).
•BlackFactionGaming: (via YouTube comment) Add ability to "put back" an etching from your weapons history if removed (for reasons like removal by accident and/or you prefer it over the new etching. Not applied to Perk Etchings if perk etchings were added).

While I agreed, and think that it would be kewl, I do see some extreme difficulties in implementing this, because of the grinding that is done in the game. The database to carry the entire history of your battles, for everyone, would have to be - almost mind-boggling, but not impossible. I can say this because of my 30+ years at OS programming, application and games development.

I think it be cooler if your weapon had a kill counter on it. I remember when I played paintball, I used to carve a notch for every kill I got. And after a year, I was proud to see if my gun tatted up with tallies. That'd be something if be more interested in. I'd also who someones experience with a weapon. I know I'm personally hesitant to invite someone onto my fire team who's rocking a legendary primary like Red hand 9, but I'd feel a lot safer seeing over 1k kills with red hand carved on his gun.

I like the idea, but from what there saying it doesn't matter if they implemented this into the game your year one legendary weapons and gear are useless now. There speech about how you can personalize your guardian was bullshit, there's no personalization when everyone's wearing the new armor because there better than the old armor. I personally don't care about legendary weapons but I would like it if my vanilla armor like my ghost angel helm (not wearing atm but love the way it looks) I want to be wearing year one gear 10 years from now and new people wonder how did you get that armor, I could say "I got this armor before any of the dlc in year one." I'm done with destiny tell I learn more, I already played alpha beta or beta as they would call it and I already payed 80+ destiny or there beta as I would call it; now the question is will the 40+ extra for TTK be the real deal or just another price tag we gotta pay for there mistakes. None the less I'm done ranting. Hope everyone has a wonderful day. Sincerely, A fellow Guardian

C'mon Bungie where are you I know you're out there. ;o)

Great idea!! My Fatebringer would need a barrel extension to allow for all of the etchings it has earned though lol! Well made video too man :-)

Sweet idea bro.

Bungie never replies to the right post. Cozmo replied to a stupid post congratulating g horn buyers but not this post, a post highlighting a key problem and providing a solution. I thought Cozmo was supposed to be better than Deej....I guess not.

Bump! Awesome approach to feedback!

Love the etching idea, that's pretty awesome.

Edited by Odysseus XIII: 8/15/2015 6:46:08 PMOnly reason why you're getting negative feedback is because people are too stupid to understand what you're saying so they vote against it, or people just want to be a "troll" not understanding the whole meaning of that. People are idiots, so they're afraid of big intelligent words. People are only worried about whats trending now days like skinny jeans, trolling, slick hair, and sandals. People don't think for themselves, they just want to follow. Noone can be themselves. TOO MANY FOLLOWERS, NOT ENOUGH LEADERS. I vote yes, because its a good way of creating new perks and customizations for armor, weaponry, and the characters actual history of the storyline or whatever the player did with that character and gear.
