You only have so many motes and coins because you play alot. If you play maybe 5 hours a week you would have not spoken in such manner.

i play about an hour a week, i get on tuesday to do nightfalls and thats it

You have played a total of around the 700 hours. That is enough to have a load of everything. People who have played maybe 100 hours (a casual player you wont see on these forums) will actually struggle.
