The same week that Tess Everis disappears...
...Is the same week we get Gjallarhorn from Xur.
Coincidence? I think not...
Seriously though, what's up with that? Could it be through some programming glitch that her presence in the tower removed Gjallarhorn from the Xur loot table, or perhaps her removal put it on the loot table when it was (supposedly) removed?
