How did you "earn" YOUR Gjallarhorn?
I don't think I need to tell anybody that there's been a lot of salt thrown around recently by folks lamenting the fact that they had to "earn" their Haller Haller Get Gjaller, and now anybody can just buy one.
The thing is though, by definition, if anybody that had one from a drop did actually earn it, they did so only by running the one activity that granted them the drop (and by extension getting to whatever level let them run that activity). That could have been the very first thing they had ever run that could grant you an exotic, and they'd have landed on the Jellyhorn. Nothing else affected the chances, and any belief to the contrary illustrates the Gambler's Fallacy.
That led me to thinking, what did those of us who got Ballerhorn in a drop [i]really[/i] do to "earn" the (until recently) rarest of guns?
So without further ado, I'd like to be the first to recount the legendary tale of how I "earned" my GGhorn.

I hopped into a 5 man Normal Atheon fight and died during it.

tl;dr ITT share stories of any low effort "feats" you accomplished that gave you a Gjallarhorn drop, demonstrating the lack of a correlation between effort and reward, thus disproving that RNG counts as "earning" any more than Xûr does.

Edit 2: It occurs to me that in the original post I failed to mention the fact that for some, their YOLOhorn dropped after a particularly difficult feat, such that they really do feel that they earned theirs. My point is not to lessen the sense of accomplishment anyone felt after acquiring their Yellerhorn, but rather to highlight the fact that due to RNG, many of us "earned" ours in really easy/silly ways, and to invite the people who are sad/angry/disappointed at everyone's favorite Splatoon cosplayer to think about whether RNG really qualifies as earning something.

1 ReplyI've paid a total of 180 dollars (including the pre ordered Taken King) for the game, then did the weeklies until I had the coins, and bought it from Xur. Totally earned.

I got ghorn by: #1 Gorgon Chest #2 Crota Hard mode #3 Iron Banner #4 Bought it just so I can say I got ghorn every way possible.

I got mine from my one and only Vault run. But I don't feel special or anything that I [b]randomly[/b], I could care less about how you get a weapon. It really shouldn't matter, and if it does to you, then find something better to do with your time.

I was doing solo Crota each week with a fraction of lost hope for hawkmoon. I hit the jackpot and got g horn from death singer twice in a row from different characters. On the next character however, the hawkmoon dropped. Happiness and joy. But that wasn't the first time I got it. The first time was during Sepiks void burn. First time with void burn. That's when me and my buddy I met in patrol destroyed the servitor. He got a thunderlord. I got the Gjallarhorn. I did not know its power back then. And was more into the thunderlord. That is until I unlocked the exotic Wolfpack rounds. There, I knew how powerful this beast is.

I got my first Ghorn from an engram that I got through a nightfall! And I got my second and Atheon NM ^^

It was a dark and stormy night. My friends list gray save for one guardian in a nightfall. I needed said nightfall but I was hesitant to join uninvited. My need for the reward from RNGeezus would not be denied I hit join fireteam. My anticipation was killing me, questions flooding my mind, where will it start me at? Is there a chance he has made it to the end? I hoped he had because the archon priest had sent me packing the day before and vengeance would be mine. My ship makes a nose dive time stood still the screen fades and reapers and I see mission reward screen the guardian who had soloed it got 9 strange coins and a blue engram while I emerged victorious having earned my first of 6 ballerhorns

Earned it . And it has not broken the game big shock
