ICE BREAKER is getting a nerf that will lower the speed at which it recharges. While it seems like a reasonable way to get it to share the stage with other good guns, many Guardians (myself included) are not too happy about the changes. In the meantime, I thunk up a possible solution that would incorporate lore, give the player options, and still take the Gas-Powered Stick off of its high horse-
The Overclock perk.
The lore of the guns is that they are all unstable prototypes, "considered dangerous and unfit for field duty by the Vanguard". As their inscription describes, ICE BREAKERs have a habit of blowing up and killing their operator. I don't know about any other Guardians, but mine has yet to combust in my hands.
Overclock, if enabled, would increase the recharge rate to its normal 5 seconds, or possibly even faster. However, it also gives the gun the chance to explode (most likely when pulling the trigger). It wouldn't be fair for a RNG to insta-kill a player, though; it should be set to hit a quarter of the health bar, maybe a third at most. It would be an on/off perk choice, of course.
This would allow users to keep their fast-charging gun, but at a risk.

I suppose that could work as an Optional perk. but also give us muzzle tier1 perks that actually do something.
