I see, you don't understand the difference between multiplication and increase. It explains why you used both terms interchangeably and have yet to realize that. So when you multiply by a percentage, you don't add the original, when you increase by a percentage, you add the original. Your OP said multiply, multiply by 1.5 and increase by 50% are the same thing. But you said multiply by 50% which is half.
