I was on YouTube the other day and came across this video.
In the video, the YouTuber had set up a fake profile on Facebook and with the permission of the parents, friended 3 young girls, pretending to be a 15 yr old boy.
After a few days of talking to them, he asked them to meet him in a park, if he can come over to their house, and if he can drive them to his house.
The result of the experiment is exactly what you think it would be.
To sum it up:
all three kids (even a 12 yr old) had met the YouTuber thinking he was a 15 yr old at the specified locations, where their fathers had also been waiting.
IMO, that's actually pretty scary. Especially in a world where many kids are getting access to technology and social media...
So what do you think of this flood/off topic?
With so many kids getting access to the Internet and to social media, Should there be better education about the dangers of social media in schools?
as a side note they also plan on doing the same social experiment with guys.
Anyway, discuss.

It's good that they did this experiment, proves that many kids these days don't take their parents seriously so they learn the hard way

Edited by SoulEatinFool: 8/18/2015 7:42:32 PMKids definitely need to be educated on this stuff, talking to strangers on social media, etc. My parents made an important point to not give out personal info, even names, or to trust anyone on the internet. They're all strangers after all. I'd like to think educating kids about the dangers of this sort of stuff in school could help fill in the lack of education on some parents' part, but in reality some kids just aren't going to listen. Idk what more can be done about it. The fact that these parents are going through with this experiment probably means they've talked to their children about this kind of stuff.

Parents just need to better introduce their children into the Internet, and perhaps not give their 8 year old daughter an iPhone 6 for Christmas. Too many parents don't know how to find a good middle ground.

it is scary when kids that young are doing things like this but I don't think they should even be on the Internet like that anyways o~o
