(ii) you keep hinting that we shouldn't dismantle any legendary weapons, does that mean we will be able to upgrade them for TTK content? If so, how do you plan to disincentivise people from continuously using fatebringer (Undeniably one of the best and most used PvE weapons in the game), or other guns from previous expansions?
Legendary marks maybe.

  • I thought that legendary marks were basically just vanguard and crucible marks heaped into one, with the same function as before (purchasing weapons or armour from the crucible and vanguard vendors) I haven't done a ton of research into this, did bungie say that legendary marks would be used to upgrade old gear?

  • I'm cautiously optimistic that we might get say one item per character that allows us to ascend one purple weapon to year 2. Even if we have to re level it. If they really reckon the new guns are better than originals, they shouldn't have a problem with each player having say one FB, one VoC and one Found Verdict (not sure you'd ascend BH post nerf). But if they don't it's not a big deal for me.

  • Yes that would be a good idea, and while Bungie have urged people not to dismantle their legendaries, they haven't told us anything about upgrading them to the new levels I have no problem moving on to new guns because that seems to me to be the natural progression of this kind of loot based game - but I would still like some kind of clarification from Bungie in relation to dismantling our current stuff

  • Quite. Either, or. Honestly I'd prefer satisfying and powerful new weapons and not carrying forward pre ttk weapons. But what I'm afraid of is boring and weak weapons like TDB and HoW (for the most part) which are only differentiated by attack value. That's why I'd like to carry over just a handful of existing weapons that are both fun to use and strong. Not boring to use and weak.

I agree, however the difference between TTK and other expansions was that in the past, players have always had the option to continue to use old weapons. Now, with the huge changes to the levelling system, we might not be able to. That's the idea behind that part of my question. Whenever people ask Bungie about old legendaries, they always say not to dismantle them, to wait and see what happens. To me this implies that TTK might offer some way to upgrade old legendary weapons to the new attack level - but then how will Bungie prevent people using older guns? All you have to do is go into any of those 'what 3 guns would you bring into TTK' threads to see that everyone loves the VoG guns (although can you think of a better alternative to fatebringer other than obviously one with better base stats?). Since I doubt that Bungie will remove or modify VoG or its rewards, these weapons will still remain available, and I wanted to ask how Bungie will give us better guns than anything else available before? Eg. Will they add new perks, different gun archetypes, or what?
