What will old weapons (for exmaple VOG) use to level up? will it still be shards or are they all replaced by the new legendary marks? Lvling old gear is annoying now because so many sources of shards have been removed.
Also, will the new legendary marks have a weekly cap?

What are you talking about? The only source of shards that has been removed is the public events - which only ever gave 1 shard very rarely. Public Events were never a good source for them. You can still get 2 for a single daily campaign mission and over 20 on a single run through Vault of Glass on hard.

The trailer for the stream that Bungie released yesterday said that you will now get legendary marks for dismantling legendary gear. A lot of people are assuming that you will need these legendary marks to upgrade weapons and armor now, as well as to purchase new weapons/gear.

Why would they think that when bungie said in the game informer interview that all class materials(ie sapphire wire, plating) would be classified as armor materials and be for all classes

Yes but what of ascendant shards and radiant shards for armor? Or ascendant energy and radiant energy? Will those still be needed for some weapons/armor (for example VoG raid gear)? Or is there going to be a complete overhaul? I think that's what Viking is asking.

Ahh I see. Well my guess is (and I'm usually right about these things) is that they will be exclusive to those raid gear and weapon sets. Since armor will not determine level but light number as long as you have legendary gear from ttk it'll be at max level like how armor and you just unlock the perks with armor material or whatever they wanna call it now.
