It's not just OP it's the majority of the player base.
Look at the figures, most Destiny players don't fireteam or raid.
They would be financially silly to ignore this long term.
Whatever the original intent of the game it will become more solo/matchmaking friendly as it developed. It already has since release.

Anything that is MMO-ish is not solo friendly. Why people would purposely choose not to do the most enjoyable and rewarding content of the game, I have no idea. I almost feel bad for them. They are knowingly missing out on a great experience. I like a good solo, alone time game too. But thats something like Skyrim. Not Destiny.
