Why do hotdog buns come in packs of 8 and hotdog sausages come in packs of 10? Do I need to eat 40 hotdogs to make it work? What do they want from me?

Everybody knows that one or two will fall, get burned or get fed to the dog. The bun makers are forward thinkers who know you will be displeased with having extra buns, extra dogs can get chopped and dropped in some mac and cheese but extra buns get tossed in the trash.
