Can we safely delete shaders/emblems/ships today and have them show up in collections on 9/15?

No you won't have them anymore so don't dismantle.

Collections will more than likely be migrated data from characters and your vault upon game update (9/15), so if you delete now the server will have nothing to draw from to create your new shader, emblem, ship, etc. collection databases. Additionally they have been harping on not deleting anything year one yet.

All of your collection information is stored as a database on Destinys servers, if you delete a database entry now (i.e. an exotic) the server will not have anything to draw from to create your new collection databases on 9/15.

They could build your exotic collection out based on your grimoire unlocks. I lost a couple emblems last week from my postmaster due to extended session of strikes, was hoping I'd get those back. I have a buddy who didn't get his skolas emblem because he didn't have a key to open the BEC after taking down Skolas the first time...hopefully that'll unlock from grimoire as well.
