So do we dismantle "year 1" legendaries to upgrade "year 2" weapons? Or are "year 1" legendaries useless in "year 2" content?

  • They said "Save your weapons". Not sure what the hell that means but I'm going to play on the safe side and keep all the weapons I care about until I don't have room to hold them anymore. I was confused by the stream.

  • because they'll use the year one gear to determine the new Light level you will have.

  • "Easy123" posted a YouTube video explaining this... Year 1 weapons are still good for year 1 content. They cannot be used for infusing year 2 weapons. The ONLY reason to keep year 1 weapons is to use in crucible or for year 1 raids. Year 1 exotics carry over into year 2, but year 1 legendaries are useless in year 2 content...

  • If a year 1 item has a better attack or defense than a year 2 item, you can sacrifice the year 1 item to get a higher attack/defense on the year 2 item. You can't infuse (ascend) year 1 items. Also, the year 1 items will still be useful in lower level content and Crucible where stats are normalized.

  • that isn't how it works at all, they said it clear, only year two weapons will have the infuse feature.

  • Yes, that's what I said. But you can use year 1 items to sacrifice for year 2 items.

I guess we'll see. It's possible I inferred something they didn't specifically say. But Deej did say don't dismantle anything right now. At the very least, you'll get legendary marks for dismantling old stuff after it drops.

He also said you could use your fatebringer in the crucible...

  • He said don't dismantle it because it all adds up to the new Light level system, but they made it clear infuse is only a year two feature.

  • I took it to mean that only year 2 items can be upgraded. Not just only year 2 items can be used for sacrificing as well.

  • you can only use year two items, when he upgraded the Suros, only year two weapons where shown to apply, even though he had year one weapons on.

  • THANK YOU SO MUCH! Great explanation! You just saved me from dismantling all of my duplicate raid weapons...

  • Yeah but if you notice, all year 1 weapons have nerfed attack values. DeeJ's un-upgraded Praedyth's was 190 atk (current minimum is 248). Y2 minimum atk is 200, so Y1 weapons are still 10 points WEAKER than base Y2.

  • But an upgraded one will probably be higher. Deej did specifically say not to dismantle anything until Sept 15.

  • He said why and it has nothing to do with infusion.

  • Yeah, I just rewarded the part about infusion, and they didn't mention anything about year 1 stuff. So you're probably right. I just got the sequence of events out of order in my mind.

  • Yeah, plus we apparently get legendary marks from dismantling gear... Does that mean we'll have to choose between immediately dismantling Y1 weapons for marks to buy new gear or saving them to infuse with? Ugh, so much math required for the Y2(TT)K conversion...

  • Infusion is for only year two gear, year one gear will be used to measure the light level when TTK launches.

  • In that case, theres even less of a reason to play Y1 content. I suppose if I play PoE, get a weapon drop, ascend it with an etheric drop, and dismantle for more legendary marks, thats somewhat of a consolation, but it would be much more motivating if we could infuse Y2 weapons with Y1 weapons.

  • since you can only infuse with weapons that have a higher damage value enabling it for year 1 still wouldn't help as they all have lower attack values...

  • Not necessarily... DeeJ's un-upgraded Praedyth's was 190 attack. Pre-TTK Praedyth's minimum attack is 248. So we can deduce that all of our gear's attack/defense values will be changed to fit the new math. It seems that the TTK minimum is 200 (greys) and 280 (legendaries). So, we can assume that an ascended legendary weapon (currently 365 attack) will still have an attack value higher than 200, though it may not be as high as 280. If ALL Y2 weapons can be infused, then technically, we SHOULD be able to infuse at least greys, probably greens, possibly blues, and hopefully purples *fingers crossed* I guess we'll just have to wait and see...

  • The only motivation for continuing to play, is to get all of the year 1 exotics...
