I'm happy we can only upgrade a few of the exotics. If we could just keep using the same weapons, there is no motivation on bungie's part to make new (and hopefully better) weapons.

Can't upgrade ice breaker or gali 2 of the most iconic weapons from year 1.. Gotta admit and know I'm gonna get hated for this but hopefully deej didn't have thorn unlocked cause I want that relevant in season 2
-
You're right, those are 2 of the more iconic/known weapons for year 1. The most important part of that statement though: year 1. We are going into a new year, so that means we'll get new iconic/known weapons, which is great to me.
-
There can still be new iconic weapons without getting out with the old though but they probablywill release upgraded old exotics with new dlc.. I hope. Some new skins on all the exotics would make this game hands down perfect

Edited by whateverman7: 8/21/2015 12:06:39 AMThat's not how these kind of games work. Whenever there is a new level cap, current stuff doesn't ascend with the new cap, it gets replaced by new, more powerful (and hopefully better) stuff. I know people really like all the current stuff (me too), but for this game to grow and get better, it needs new stuff when the cap increases. What a lot of the complaining is showing is that a lot of people playing destiny don't have experience with these kind of games or they just havent accepted what kind of game destiny is. I know people brushed/laughed off the 10 plan Bungie announced for this game, but with some of the changes they made for year 2 shows they were serious, i.e. getting rid of the old, bringing in the new.

You are crazy and a bungie lapgog

Edited by netherslayer777: 8/19/2015 8:08:31 PMFor me, I don' think it is fair/logical to only bring up some of the Exotic weapons. It's like allowing you to Ascend Fatebringer, but not Vision of Confluence - it just seems out of place/out of line. Not to mention, each of the Year One exotics had unique perks for different situations, and depending on Bungie's interpretation on what is a "favorite", we could lose very valuable/useful Exotics (IE. MIDA Multi-tool, Patience and Time, Exotic Bounty weapons, etc.).
-
It is fair and logical. In these type of games, weapons/gear are rarely, if at all , ever allowed to keep ascending with the game's level increases. They are useful for a certain time, but when the game increases levels, those weapons become obsolete and are replaced by new weapons. Which is great for us players cause it forces the devs to create new ones. The fact they are ascending some of them at all is a good thing. The issue you and others are having with this is that you're scared the weapons you like using wont be one of the ones picked to ascend. That's something yall have to get over. Prime ex: gally. I like using gally as much as the next guardian, but i'm excitedly waiting/hoping for the day it's not the go to weapon cause the game's levels have passed it by. That means there are newer (and hopefully better) weapons in the game we can use.

The illogical part is the cherry picking of old weapons. It is kind of a slap in the facenter to bring a few of our beloved guns, but not all of them. And unlike Legendaries, each Exotic had a unique purpose and ability that could only be found in that specific gun.
-
I love my monte carlow, all three of them!!!
-
No, it's perfectly logical. Some exotics were too powerful, overused, or (likely) had perks that overlapped with new exotics. So, they decided to leave them behind for the sake of game balance.
-
Exactly though... cherry picking what is a "Community favorite". And not all exotics they are leaving behind are overpowered, either.
-
You keep saying cherry picking, but I don't think you know what it means. They're just good old picking. I also gave three possible reasons, you argued with one.
-
Perhaps. I'm not trying to complain/hate; I'm just not too fond of how they proceeded with this. I'll accept what they do, I'm just trying to explain why I believe the system is a little odd. I'm sorry if I come off as something I shouldn't be,.
-
Fair enough.
-
It allows them to create your NEW favorite weapons to take that place. And you will still want to keep those weapons and armor for all Year 1 content. It allows the game to grow. Stinks, yes, but it's a necessary thing.
-
A favorite isn't chosen by someone else. When I was a lot younger my favorite song was different than it is now but that is choice not dictation.
-
Edited by whateverman7: 8/19/2015 10:08:32 PMTrue, only you can choose your favorite. With that said: some of yall need to get over the fact that your current favorite will eventually become obsolete. That's just how these games work and grow. And you know what? That's cool and yall will be ok. It just means you have to pick a new favorite you cant play without and will be reluctant to give up at the start of year 3 :)

No it isnt. It is stupid
