"Easy123" posted a YouTube video explaining this... Year 1 weapons are still good for year 1 content. They cannot be used for infusing year 2 weapons.
The ONLY reason to keep year 1 weapons is to use in crucible or for year 1 raids.
Year 1 exotics carry over into year 2, but year 1 legendaries are useless in year 2 content...
