I'm not to particularly happy about the Insta Level 25 for "new Characters".
Grinding away from 1-25 teaches a new player the Mechanics of the game and complete his SubClass.
So you can play instantly with your friends. Do I really want to Raid or do a Strike with a Friend that has no experience or can't even use his super yet?

Dude. It's too easy. Don't play with newbies!!!
-
I would agree with you if the new players were bumped to LVL 40. However LVL 25 is still early game enough (even by today's standard) that new players should have a grip of their class and mechanics by the time they reach end game.
-
WoW did the same with instant level 90 and it didn't turn bad at all.
-
You obviously didn't do a lot of dungeons or lfr, it was really bad, nobody knew how to play their classes, it was a shitstorm.
-
I would say that 90% of humanity are one enormous grab-asstic squad of hooting morons in any case. PUGs are bad because they're PUGs, not because people don't play their classes. You don't have to be able to play your class to not stand in fire or to realize that hitting a dude with a crazy bubble shield seems to hurt you back, or other EXTREMELY OBVIOUS mechanics that people ignore. This is because they're morons, not because they don't know their class. I'll hop into stuff on a healer (I am a terrible healer) and outperform PUG healers. This is because I'm not a colossal nitwit. I'm perfectly acceptable DPS and an actually good tank (server first Greenscale gloves, aw yis), but there is a lot of competence between 'most humans' and 'people who are actually good at games', with experience in a specific video game or with a specific class being a quick solve if your brains aren't made out of -blam!-in' pudding.
-
Well, those people who were doing like 5,000 dps when 5,000 dps was extremely bad say otherwise. I haven't played in a while, but I remember when the level boost came out, healers were out dpsing dps, classes in Destiny are nothing like WoW though, a lot of people were literally lost because they had no clue what they were doing, there were no intro quests(or they skipped them), and just ran right into dungeons/raids and ruined the experience for everyone else. Hopefully this won't be like that.

i have 2 hunters and a titan.now i can delete one hunter to make a warlock and use all 3 classes.. thank you bungie
-
Yep will probably be deleting one warlock to make a hunter so I have all 3. But only once I've played ttk a bit so I know if I want to invest the time on that extra levelling.
-
It's only for 1 character
-
Hopefully it levels up subclasses.
-
I know right?!? Why would Bungie do this? No company has ever done anything like this before.
-
Erm... WoW gives automatic level up every time a new expansion comes out.
-
Sarcasm was lost upon you friend, but it matters not. :)
-
Oh. Sorry. Lol
-
Nope, Blizzard has never. =)
-
I thought that was just for new characters, not completely new players.
-
Everyone who buys 'The Taken King' gets to promote one character to level 25.
-
Oh, well now I know things.
-
That's why you help your friend learn the mechanics. I mean it's not a difficult game by any means
-
100% agree but i can see why they have done this.. its going to be hard to get new people to play the game when 5 years down the track they are forced to play through content which is 5 years old.. Bungie want to keep the game fresh and new each year so thats why they would have done this.
-
Do we start at level 1?
-
No you all start where you currently are. I'm just saying New Players should.
-
They have quests for all the subclasses now that will still show the mechanics and how to use them
