The strange soldiers decide on a different plan. One of them presses a detonator, and the stun mines they'd laid for just such an eventuality detonate, throwing both of the Okura children back by a few dozen meters. Another helicopter rises from behind them, then as they grapple on, flies by the Okuras, not 10 feet away. The troops, as they pass, toss the scientist out of the chopper. He lands softly in the sand.
As the Okuras watch the soldiers depart, the house's lights flare brightly.
Then it explodes.
