Tl; Dr: give us the means to use blue and green armor models (or other legendary gear)on legendary gear to open up some gaurdian diversity and player choice.
UPDATE 1: So following the twitch reveal, I'm hopping that the "appearance augmentation system" mentioned in the destiny game informer article isn't just infusion as it was seen in the twitch stream. I'm pretty sure I heard them say that was only for legendaries and exotics " as it seems both gear types for both rarities had what looked like the infusion mark under their passive stat slot.
I was hopping we could just lie the model of armor we like over the armor as is in the inventory, more akin to many other games at the moment

So for all the talk about making a unique guardian I hear from ya bungie, I can't help but feel like you missed a mark with the models of green and blue gear. We're forced into using the appearance of legendary gear just for stats alone.
Now I know we don't have the full details on the nature of gear in the taken king, but it seems like every guardian ends up with the same choice of like three appearances of model for their armor out side of exotics.
It was equally disappointed to find out the "Playstation exclusive" armors from launch are only rare drops in strike lists. Like ultimately by the design of this game, those armors do not matter. I find this to be really disappointing.
As for a solution to this problem, it would seem like a transmutation system for armor appearance (a la guild wars 2) would be an awesome system for legendaries and for guardian to apply ownership to their looks instead of just buying the top tear legendary gear to ultimately get raid gear that looks the same. Let us take a green or a blue and lay its model over a legendary piece if we like it better. This seems like something miss Eva Lavante in the tower was meant for, akin to the Banshee- 44's use as a weapon roller.
Side note, would love to know why some exotics are shadeable and others are not.
