I'm most excited to have to re-grind levelling exotic weapons I already have just like The Dark Below, but this time I have to use legendary marks AND glimmer to re-buy the weapon to do so! So much better than spending a little glimmer on Xur! I'm even more excited that not every exotic can be brought into The Taken King! Great job, Bungie :) [spoiler] sarcasm aside, there are more positives they're bringing in than negatives, but this one is still bugging me. Didn't they learn? [/spoiler]

They are actually upgraded versions of the exotics you have.

Yes, but the upgraded versions need to be releveled.

true, however they are also level 40. so you wouldn't be able to use a year 2 exotic on day one of year two even if you had a fully levelled one.

Yeah, that is bugging me too. Luckily, it looks like they have taken the grind away SIGNIFICANTLY. Less nodes, and the stacked nodes upgrade at the same time. Hallelujah.

Yeah. However, the new exotics from House of Wolves, Queenbreakers' Bow, for example, still take a long time to level up even though it has less nodes. It's still a significant amount of XP you have to dump into them. It's another way to put artificial replay value into the game, and I'm not a fan of the decision to do this. With all the new questing and stuff to do, I hope it makes grinding a little more fun.

I never have received a HoW exotic (PoE crashes whenever I play; luckily, I am upgrading from 360 to One soon), so I don't know how bad the leveling times are. But at least armor comes with the exotic perk already unlocked.
