Am I the only one [i]slightly[/i] disappointed that we start at level 34? I mean I can understand light level keeps building afterwards, but we'll be lvl 40 in the first couple of days....
Again, I understand this because most of the gear requires lvl 40, but I feel like we'll miss out on a large chunk of gear and weapons because we'll be focused on all that legendary gear right off the bat.
I'm in two minds about it, and I'm not complaining, but I think I'm going to make a new character so I can get a 'fuller' experience.

I've already put in the hours to hit 34 on all 3 characters, so I'm gonna go the other way and stick at level 34 and enjoy the new stuff immediately. The XP will level us up and unlock activities and bounties to give us the full experience, but a lot of those activities will be way beyond our 168 light level. Seeing that Suros scout be upgraded to 288 damage indicates that all gear can reach 288 at least, which will make our light level 288 if all our gear hits that - so we're just over halfway through that grind as it is. Also, seeing the blue weapons with more power than year 1 legendaries and exotics shows me that we wont be focused on legendary gear straight away but more so on more powerful blue gear.

I get where you're coming from, think disappointed is not the best word for it. I'm more curious about what comes after level 20 as such. I'm restarting one of my characters just to get that feel (and a missing Grimoire card to be honest).

Im doing the same thing w/ my warlock Im missing the Awoken card and being that I can get to level 25 at the start I'll just store all my gear in the new vault and be 34 again, will just have to grind the story mission over again but wont be the first time.

Same card I'm missing :-) Mind you that you can also do the Black Garden mission again, in order to get the Stranger's Rifle. It is [url=http://destiny.wikia.com/wiki/No_Time_To_Explain]rumoured to be required[/url] for obtaining the exotic "No Time To Explain".

Edited by Sox75: 8/20/2015 2:07:55 PMI think you will need to (re)start a character in order to be able to get it from the mission. Shouldn't be that hard once you're character is level 25 ;-) I've got one in the vault though, but will get a spare one either way.

Right I knew that or everyone would just redo the black garden mission lol. It cant be acquired again from that mission unless its the first play through for that character. Your prob one of the few to keep it just b/c of the limited space we had for a long time. I scrapped mine on all 3 characters a long time ago

I didn't have that much problems with the limited vault space to be honest. I have a rather fixed set of gear for PvE and another one for PvP. I used to collect the Raid gear, but stopped doing that when I reached the vault limit. Just started dismantling stuff I hadn't used or didn't see a point in ever (really ever) using. Only my exotic collection remained untouched.

Same, with the extra vault space I can store my armour and weapons so I can start fresh, but still not lose out once I get a certain level. But they have said that there's blues/commons that could be better than our legendaries....I feel like people have already made up their minds exactly what they are doing gear wise after the stream yesterday. Starting again, would lead to a lot of new immersion I think, apparently all the missions have been laid out better etc, and starting at 34 we are going to miss out on a lot of that. Seems a shame that all of that effort will go largely unnoticed.

Indeed, I'm really looking forward to this expansion and I'll be levelling up my hunter and titan to 40 first, just to get that first experience about the new mechanics and gameplay. My warlock will be sacrificed for the greater good after that. By that time I should have enough legendary marks to get him some new shiny gear when he reaches level 40.
