The only thing I really want to know is: will there REALLY be no way to save a few of your favorite legendaries? I'm excited about EVERYTHING revealed except for the fact that I'll have to let go of the gear I've grown attached and accustomed to. That's the only thing that I feel is a real F you to year 1 fans. You can't expect us to just agree with having to throw away all our gear from year 1. If I want to infuse my Vision of Confluence or my Longbow Synthesis because that's my favorite weapon than why can't I? Or upgrade my Cover of No Tomorrows because that's my favorite Hunter helmet for it's awesome looks? Just make other weapons/armor better perkwise but not value wise. I don't want to part from a few weapons, it's as simple as that. "Etheric light" was the best move Bungie made in HOW, and now we're just gonna have to scrap all the gear we worked hard for to get to 331 or 365? Doesn't seem right man, really doesn't seem right.

  • Those 365 weapons will still be good until you get lvl 36 enemies.

  • Well in case someone wants to know how useful their current fully upgraded weapons will be and whom they'll be useful against.

  • Yeah I really hope so. They also told us that the guns will stay as effective as they are now in the current end-game content. I'ma just keep my favorite weapons, if only for PVP purpose...

  • Well many don't know this but the first 2 numbers of a weapons attack damage are the maximum levels they are effective at doing damage to.

  • Bungie wants us to be 'legend'. They want us even to 'build' our legend. But what would Hercules say if you made him drop his tiger fur and mace every so often? Bungie devs don't even know the meaning of the words they use in their hype machine.

  • This is a normal Thing in any MMO i played EQ for years ...standers is new exp new gear there was no making it good enough to keep up ...being attached to items is fine i keepted tones of gear that held "sentimental" value for me .That value is still there whether u use it or not. These games are not to forge a relationship between you and your gun...but between you and your friends that helped you get there, and if this is the case the weapon/armor holds no real value. except for Sentimental reasons. This is the nature of things. ask your self "do i still have my first cell phone. or do i still have some of the names from it in my newest one"

  • Here's my thing with that... As a longtime MMORPG player... When I got gear... I just got it. It dropped and it was good to go. In Destiny I spent time to level gear via XP and materials. So when I got rid of old gear in other games that stung less because I would just raid for new gear. In Destiny I raid for gear and THEN have to level it. I get the overall sentiment, it's just the time sink wipe that's a kick in the groin. You follow? At least let me get SOMETHING from them. Will the legendary marks suffice? Only time will tell.

  • They are doing this because they want people to move past the weapons we all had in year one. They do not want the situation of right before Destiny 2 is released that everyone is still using the same weapons as they were the first few months into the game. They are attempting to push us along and acquire new gear and weapons and use them. If all of our old stuff could be infused then it would not solve the vault space issue, we would infuse much of our current stuff plus pile on all the new weapons and armor from TKK. I want to be pushed to use better and newer weapons, not to keep using the same stuff Ive had for a year already.

The whole point of Destiny for me is to grow a bond with your gear.. They can easily make other weapons more interesting while still giving the possibility of keeping old gear slightly relevant stat wise... I would LOVE to still have my B-Line Trauma or Longbow Synthesis years from now. Not because they would still be OP but because I simply grew attached to those weapons...

  • so you expect 6 pages of vault space by Destiny 2? I find that using the same exact load outs such as FB, Black Hammer and Gjallarhorn get boring. I want to move past the weapons I have been using for so long. This is not a game about collecting as much crap as possible, after awhile you have to move on a and replace older stuff

  • The bank / vault space for most games that encourage collecting are just on another level. Pages upon pages of space. So yes...

I agree with that but holding onto the same weapons the entire time for this game makes zero sense. This a 10 year planed game if we dont get used to the fact that we cant use the same weapons early on then its harder to do later on. Its very unlikely that any current weapons will carry over to Destiny 2 so your going to lose them anyway

  • I would understand that going from Destiny 1 to 2. But why would some of the end-game content (Crota, VOG, POE) have geardrops that have ZERO importance anymore after TTK? I feel end-game gear should stay relevant throughout Destiny 1 at least.

  • Etheric light TOTALLY ruined House of Wolves. Bungie listened to players complaining about their VOG gear being less powerful and decided to allow us to ascend them to current power levels. This was probably also to make up for having no raid in House of Wolves. In reality, it totally made House of Wolves weapons worthless. No one wants to go through Skolas because it takes so long, has low gear drop rates, and the weapons are inferior to VOG and Crota gear due to etheric light. Continuing this same trend into next year would be a horrible mistake. Why should players be able to go through an easy, old raid to get gear that is able to be as good if not better than new end game gear? That's exactly what happened with House of Wolves- don't want to see end game gear ruined again.

  • So etheric light ruined house of wolves? It wasn't the lack of engaging pve content? The miserable end game pve "rewards" or the awful slog fest that PoE 35 can be? Etheric light is the only thing that made HoW worth playing (unless you like pvp). By the logic in this post you would argue that HoW would have been better if we HAD to use the garbage HoW gear? The fact that the VoG and Crota gear is what people ascended shouldn't condemn the Etheric Light idea - it should (and does) reflect poorly on Bungie's ability to design new desirable gear and engaging ways to obtain it. Why the hell would I chase after a burn primary with a shite drop rate at the end of a tedious, buggy encounter that doesn't allow any checkpoint saving when I could run a couple of raids and load up on better gear? Raid gear and etheric light didn't ruin end game HoW gear - End game HoW gear ruined end game HoW gear. Etheric light just gave me a chance to use weapons that don't suck and armor that doesn't look like a half finished chicken wire fence.

  • I agree that the weapons themselves were not designed well, but without etheric light those weapons would have been the weapons PVE players would play for. A 300 fatebringer compared to a 365 HoW hand cannon? Yes, the problem is that the VOG gear was SO good that those are the only ones that would be used forever if ascending was allowed to continue. The only way to avoid that would be to make new weapons that were more powerful- resulting in each expansion creating more and more powerful (perks) until we all would be wielding nuclear hand cannons. They stopped the ascension to avoid power creep.

  • They were worthless to begin with because they sucked compared to VoG weaponry. Had the devs actually put out DECENT guns I would've used some of the HoW ones, but the only one from PoE was Shadow of Veils. The rest were inferior.

  • Yeah, that is true. I forgot that one because I never used it ever. Had two void Jolder Hammers with field scout, but yeah, some of my friends liked using Chain.
