You just won't be able to play the specific TTK content that requires the expansion. Of course any changes that come with the 2.0 update itself will take affect like with HoW.

Not sure but those might require TTK but it all depends on what bungie does. You might be able to get the gunsmith stuff and other changes in the tower but not those specifically found in TTK like the How specific guns from the prison and such.
