Are we going to be able to carry all of our Exotic gear with us throughout the entire 10 years of this franchise?

Yes, but with each new year the ones from the previous year are probably going to give way to new exotics that, hopefully, are just as fun to play with. I'm certain they will let you keep anything and everything you want to keep. It just may not be the best weapons anymore.
