Did you people even think about it ramifications of this? You guys are aware that the gally and other year one exotics are going to be "frozen in time", never to be upgraded ever again. Now, I could be a bitch on the forums, calling people idiots, or claim that they are bungie's sheep.... But I'm not going to be a bitch.
My question is, WHY you are okay with the gally ( and for the sake of having a good discussion: other one year exotics ) being left behind? For most of us, these exotics (like gally) were not easy to get. I just wonder why you guys are fine leaving them behind after countless months are grinding.
UPDATE: What I mean by calling people names, is that I could be toxic like some people are. I don't want to be that toxic person. All I wanted to have a good discussion about this.
-
I wanted ALL exotics to come with us
-
I am fine with this as it means we will all get to grips with new weapons and strive for new things. Did you never get taught that it's the thrill of the chase?
-
I collected every exotic and enjoyed collecting them all. Now it is time to collect new stuff. Gally is wonderful but we can manage just fine w.o it. Its boring to use same weapons and armor over and over. Time for a fresh look and feel. Bring it on. And if you want to keep in vault and bust of your rare year one exotics in crucible and vog and crotas end itll make them that much more special and worthy of a show off

Because there will be new shinier guns. Time to say goodbye. #foreveryear1

Edited by CARLTASTROPHE: 8/21/2015 9:52:50 AMOne word comes to mind: Progression. Going through 10 years worth of content with the same old gear/weapons?! How can you not see why they're moving past year one weapons... Edit 1: World of warcrafts loot system has worked like this for over a decade and no ones cried when their legendaries (in this case the top tier orange gear as opposed to top tier exotic gear we are familiar with in destiny) have become obsolete with new expansions. And yes you CAN compare the two games before anyone else starts crying about how they are two fundamentally different games. The loot/progression mechanics are similar enough.

I personally can't wait to see what new exotics will be like. The old has been used over and over. I want something different.
-
I'm fine with it. It's just a random mixture of pixels and programming lines in a video game. Some folk got lucky and didn't have to play for hundreds of hours hoping rng would be kind to them. Other people have had to endure the pain of waiting for xur to finally sell something they wanted. At the end of the day it's a game, if your gona get upset about something so pointless I suggest you step away from your controller and evaluate your priorities in life.
-
They need to re introduce it eventually I'm bummed out most exotics are being left out at the launch of ttk Tbf there are a lotof exotics, the devs won't have time to upgrade all of them Bump for all exotics eventually adding into the game
-
I'm just hoping that over time they will upgrade more and more of the year 1 exotics. What pisses me off is the fact they didn't do a poll or anything for what exotics should be upgraded or not.
-
Because im pretty sure that there is going to be something even better replacing them. There is a lot of new exotics comming, at least one should be bad ass.
-
I'm not that cool with it - I believe that the "diversity" will be no more than it was in week one!! The pond of top tier gear will still be just as small as it was in week one (meaning everyone will look the same... AGAIN) and in limiting my choice on weapons you also narrow the options.... I just don't understand why they did this. I understand the argument and I don't want to use the same gear forever but I do want to have the choice, if I want to use my word of crota or found verdict I should be able to at no loss to defence /offence light level - END GAME gear should be just that.
-
This is how any grind based game I've ever played has worked. Eventually expansions cause the old stuff to become obsolete. Nature of the game.
-
Not to worry in the near future there will be another DLC and for the low low price of $29.99 we all will be able to update our year 1 exotics. Why would they give us something that they can sell back to us later? HoW was a gigantic PoS, no raid and the POE was a joke for an end game activity, so we basically paid $19.99 to upgrade our VoG/Crota weapons and they'll do it again to us in Year 2 (somewhere around May 2016).
-
The main reason I am perfectly fine with moving on to new gear is because that is how every mmo I have ever played has handled it. Gear from the last expansion is left behind because the new expansion has gear that is twice as good. the same thing happened in diablo 3 when the expansion came out. Same for borderlands 1 when its dlc came out. Old gear should never be as good as new gear. Im sad to have to lay my gjally down but im excited to find new gear.
-
Not all exotics will be left behind. Even still, most exotics and legendaries that are left behind will still be usable in a few activities. It's more than a lot of other RPGs do. It just seems worse in Destiny because there was more grinding to get less gear.
-
Wanted them as a trophy on my wall like bungie literally made that happen
-
Really looking forward to new guns, so doesn't really bother me at all, since day one I have never just stuck with the one weapon, ex borderlands player so used to having massive choice and not settling for one.
-
My Gally will forever be with me, although stored away to reminisce of all the good times. But better times are coming my friend that I can guarantee
-
I think I would prefer that no exotics get left behind. But at the same time, for the sake of balance (in more than one way), I can still jive with the way things are going. If Gjallarhorn carried on to year 2, we would continue to have the same problem--it being outright the top exotic (or maybe one of, with new TTK weapons). Even with the Wolfpack nerf, it would probably still be that way, and if they nerfed it harder than it seems they will, there would be... a storm. Might as well leave it behind and let it be the god of year 1. Change is good.
-
The vex was frozen in time too Until it wasn't. They said they're bringing more forward at a later date.
-
Also don't forget that apparently they're totally fine with a smaller weapons pallette and an increasingly shrinking one going forward.
-
That's Destiny...Grinding is part of the fun......if you can't understand it...Destiny is not the game for you....
-
All of the Y1 exotics should be underpowered for TTK endgame. They should be fine to get you started in TTK and slowly become underpowered so that you grind for newer gear to make the midgame easier, then you struggle a little on the endgame with that newer gear in attempts to obtain the best possible gear to make the endgame easier. Letting Y1 weaponry be the best possible option for TTK endgame is asinine and makes grinding for anything new pointless.
-
Im fine with it because it's an mmo, and it's normal for gear to become obsolete with every expansion I got used to it along time ago.
-
I'm glad it's happening
