You know how a damage drop and incurred damage penalty occurs when you are below content level. Is that still going to be tied to character level or somehow folded into your light gear score?

The light level score. They announced in the stream yesterday that your light level will increase your damage output and defense against AI.
-
Bump. I was wondering this as well. It would help to know if xp level or light level will be more important.
-
Think of it like most MMOs. Your level is your base stat. You can get to max level to do max level things... but won't be able to do damage or take hits without gear appropriate for that level. So the more light you accumulate, the stronger you become against non player enemies.
-
So light is less a stat with its own effect on your power, and more a measure of how powerful you and your gear are in total? If so, I quite like that.
-
I think it'll be just as important as your xp level. But essentially, yes. I agree, I like the way this is headed. But if you've ever played WoW. Think of it as the raid tiers/item levels.
-
Never played any other mmos, so I can't really relate to that analogy. More or less though, I think I've got a good grasp on how it'll work. Thanks, btw.

Of course. Glad I could answer your question. Happy hunting and if you ever need a fireteam, hit me up on the xbox one. Hitman vii

I'm on PlayStation, but thanks for the offer.

Edited by HITMAN VII: 8/21/2015 3:43:34 AMNo worries. You can hit up some of my coworkers. Amostone, s3an-z3 and their crew... they're always looking for more to run raids and PoEs. Just tell him Ryan sent you.

I was suspecting it was going to be similar to World of Warcraft and the character level vs gear score. But, you never really know with Destiny. The previous level system was pretty unique so I was curious. I'm guessing then that any of the 25% damage drops applied will be tied to your character level alone and the overall gear score will be an indicator of whether or not you are powerful enough to tackle certain content. The only problem will be nobody will know what gear score is required to reasonable deal with certain content until communities like Reddit figure it out and share it with us. Destiny never really seems to explain its own systems to the gamers.

The damage and defense are tied to your light level. Not xp level. I.e. your gear score
