I didn't get my first gjally until after I downed Skolas the first time. After reset, did the NF on my hunter on the X1 and I got a gjally from it. 700 hours later. So I've done all endgame content with [i]and[/i] without it. Gjally just made the endgame content easier and quicker to get through, which is kind of a bad thing if you have time to spare doing raids and stuff.
