I agree from a vague conceptual standpoint, but really, this isn't all that true. When World of Warcraft updated their old talent tree system (get a zillion points, slot points into many different talents) to the new talent grid (pick one talent on every tier), everyone said they were throwing away tons and tons of flexibility. They weren't. They were throwing away tons and tons of buttons you could press, but all the 'flexibility' that seemed to be inherent in those buttons was actually just making all your choices for you; there were really only three specs in the game, and despite the fact that you could press different buttons and get a totally different spec than another person, you were very likely to be doing it wrong unless you looked up a build. WoW's change was about providing more meaningful choices to people. This is doing the same thing. There are a few outliers (Gjallarhorn, Thorn) that don't just need a minor nerf, -they need to be gone- until they can get a significant enough design pass to re-enter the space. I hope that updated versions of old weapons (like the new Suros, for example) are the first of many rather than the be-all and end-all. I am looking forward with hope to seeing the Thorn and the Gjallarhorn return, very different, but fitting within the game's systems. Usable, powerful, but not so powerful that they are a straight-up requirement. Don't think of it as losing the Thorn. Think of it as gaining every hand cannon in the -blam!-ing game in PvP.
