I understand that it's team-based. But the Level 28 PoE has matchmaking, and that works pretty well. Besides, I think it'd be fun for those who want a bit of an extra challenge; trying to create a makeshift team that will work together for five rounds, or nine rounds in Trials. I'm just saying, for those who aren't as social, but still love the game, having these activities be fireteam-exclusive is kind of annoying.
