I can bet that most of the people saying rap have really only scratched a thin layer of rap music, predominantly those found in Internet sensations like the Nasty Freestyle by T-Wayne and Whip It by Silento, or are garnering their opinions in a conformist fashion with others because they feel as though older music was more genuine and meaningful.
It's much more than that. Here I have attached a song from Mac Miller. You probably know of him because of radio hits like "Knock Knock", "Party on 5th Ave", "Donald Trump", or "Loud". This will probably surprise you.
And for those who are rock fans, I recommend [i]Yeezus[/i] by Kanye West. Amazing album.

I've listened to rap since the 80's and it sucks. Grew up with nwa, LL, etc, but the stuff that has came out the last 5 or 6 years is just bad.

As I said I grew up on it and I dislike it now. This makes my statement as valid as it can get. BTW I never said I haven't heard it. I dislike west no matter what he does. If you want to listen to that crap then please do, because it's your problem, not mine. Peace

That's what an opinion is, but I guess you just want to force that crap on everyone. I am an 80's kid and have heard it all before, but I don't like the new stuff. What is closed minded about that?

Because it's impossible to say you've heard all of the new stuff. I'm not forcing anything on anyone but you're saying you're hating an album without even listening to it. That's being presumptuous on a whole different scale. What's more is that if you grew up with Grand master flex, Run DMC , and NWA you would know there are some "new age" rappers that follow the same style as them. To say all new age rappers are bad is merely a horrible and gross generalization.

I have heard it, and don't care for it. How hard is that for you to understand? It's not hard to hear almost all of it. Used to be a fan, but now it's just hooks and repeats. Only thing selling is how much the artist portrays their skankyness. Been there and have the tshirt to prove it.
