I can bet that most of the people saying rap have really only scratched a thin layer of rap music, predominantly those found in Internet sensations like the Nasty Freestyle by T-Wayne and Whip It by Silento, or are garnering their opinions in a conformist fashion with others because they feel as though older music was more genuine and meaningful.
It's much more than that. Here I have attached a song from Mac Miller. You probably know of him because of radio hits like "Knock Knock", "Party on 5th Ave", "Donald Trump", or "Loud". This will probably surprise you.
And for those who are rock fans, I recommend [i]Yeezus[/i] by Kanye West. Amazing album.
