I understand the money vs time played argument, and I've played my fair share of this game, but I honestly don't want other games to follow Destiny's example.
They are creating more play time through having players repeating the same processes for a chance at getting specific items. And while it's addicting to get that one item and getting a dopamine rush, I wouldn't want to play every game that way.
To keep things that way, they only need to put in minimal effort in the gameplay side of things and create more items for players to chase after. This process for 10 years is going to be very exhausting and at the end of a 10 year cycle I want to have played a game dense in story and player experiences and not just show off my virtual exotic gun penis.
As for microtransactions, I can't say Bungie would never do it. Activision has already done this with CoD, so I honestly would be surprised if Destiny ended up the same way. It might not even end up as a play to win game, but microtransactions with shaders, emotes and maybe engrams? I could actually see this happening in the future. Here's hoping it doesn't happen though.
