Haha you have made an excellent point. Everyone is so -blam!-ing dumb in these forums that I never expected someone to post something that would make me change the way I thought about the way Bungie is handling Destiny. The thing that Diablo and Borderlands have in common is that they have great synergies in their skill trees. Synergies hold up on their own unless you are playing endgame content, then you would need to look for specific gear that complemented your build. Destiny has half-assed builds without exotics. While I've never had a problem with legendaries not moving on, exotics are the only way to make builds work and thus allowing players so safely make it through endgame. I blame this on Bungie/Activision for trying to make an extremely casual game. Casuals can't be bothered to spend time figuring out builds or look for build-specific gear (according to Activisions researchers and shareholders no doubt.) There is no way to find an even ground between casual gameplay and core gameplay without Bungie taking a huge risk and taking Destiny back to the drawing board, which would be a big no-no especially if they are trying hard to make people still play this game in between dev cycles. So I guess while skills in Destiny are lackluster then we are going to need to turn to gear to build our characters. One of the reasons why I don't really complain about Destiny is because it's still a fun game to me even with all its flaws. I realized a while ago that Bungie is not going to try and fix the game completely and will just keep pushing DLC after DLC, it's no completely their fault since Activision is behind all of this.
