People seriously. This is the issue? You won't be able to run Fatebringer, Black Hammer, and Gjallarhorn for the next several years of Destiny?
I think this is a good thing. It lets people experiment with the new weapons they worked so hard to create! Think of all the possibilities!
Just because it's PvE doesn't mean balance shouldn't be a thing. Maybe the new exotic version of the Stranger's Rifle will be fun and unique. Maybe you will enjoy running the sword being added as a weapon!
All I'm saying is, before you rage, give it a chance!
Edit: This little post of mine has spawned quite a bit of rage! I would hope the arguments are less "shut up fgt" and more of a civilized conversation.

For me it involves a certain amount of principles. How long ago did the last download get released? 3 months? Those weapons and armor will also have to be left behind. Why was this not mentioned before we paid for that? Yeah yeah, gimme that "this is an MMO BS, they always do that" well, to me that's an excuse for lazy thinking and lack of innovation. So, it's year 2, but it's not destiny 2 it's still the first game. Bungie themselves said in the stream they know ppl get attached to weapons for whatever reason, hence the new infusion mechanics for upgrading weaker weapons so they can stay with you and stay relevant! Does this not contradict all you ppl saying move on ditch the old weapons blah blah??
