Kell of Kells

What is the reasoning behind the title and name for Skolas, the Kell of Kells? It seems sort of random for him to be "a random noble title amongst all other noble titles of an equal ranking," and NOT have it be of a significant meaning. It's been bugging me ever since I ran across this mission a couple months ago, and haven't been able to figure this out. Why "Kell" over any other title available to nobility? Why not "lord" or "duke," or am I just over-thinking this? Thanks in advance, either way, and yours in loyalty.
