You just proved my point. God wasn't going to let Abraham sacrifice his son and we see that he didn't and God provided a lamb. It's only immoral if God actually wanted Abraham to sacrifice Isaac. It's also one of the most explicit foreshadowings of Jesus. Did you know that the hill that Abraham took Isaac to was the same hill Jesus was crucified on? And as far as genocide, God was judging evil. He gave every people that he judged time to repent. They didn't, so they were judged. Look at the conversation between God and Abraham regarding the judgement of Sodom and Gomorrah. Look at the story of Jonah and God's judgement of Nineveh. God is just. The only problem with God's judgement is that those rebelling against God don't like the idea that we are his creation and he can rightly judge us.
Edit: when we read through the old testament, we not only see God using Israel to judge evil nations, but we see God using other nations to judge Israel when they rebel and start doing evil. God is a just judge.
