First, let me apologize, the title is rather misleading. I'm sure there is a lot more to know about these guardians from our past. But given what we have, this is the best speculation that i have of their history and their fate.
Hello once again guardians, I'm still currently working on the Everything you need to know about the previous legends posts, and i felt that if it could be nicely divided or grouped that would be the best way to do it. Always remember that you can find any of my posts by searching CoK, or even joining the Collective of Knowledge which could also be found by searching CoK. This post will consist of the devastating Vault of Glass raid and how the members entered, failed, or escaped to a different terrible fate.
Kabr, The Legionless, Pahanin, Praedyth, Osiris
Not much is known about Kabr The Legionless, he lead an unsuccessful raid into the Vault of Glass. That is what is known at least, is it possible that he actually made multiple attempts at the Vault? Let's look at the cards:
His name was Kabr. He wasn't my friend but I knew and respected him as a Guardian and a good man. He fought the Vex alone. This destroyed him. In the time before he vanished he said things that I think should be remembered. These are some of them:
"In the Vault time frays and a needle moves through it. The needle is the will of Atheon. I do not know the name of the shape that comes after the needle.
No one can open the Vault alone. I opened the Vault. There was no one with me but I was not alone.
You will meet the Templar in a place that is a time before or after stars. The stars will move around you and mark you and sing to you. They will decide if you are real.
I drank of them. It tasted like the sea."
That is all I can remember.
Pahanin
The bold is a primary reason why I think there were multiple attempts at the Vault. This was a quote of Pahanin, and if he witnessed the fall of Kabr then continued to build the super good advice machine gun, then how could Kabr have told him these things? It's widely agreed that Kabr went into the Vault and lost his fireteam to the gorgons, causing him to forget their existence, therefore if Kabr went multiple times he would have an understanding others wouldn't and would probably warn them of the threats ahead.
So let's assume that the final fireteam consisted of Kabr, Pahanin, Praedyth, Osiris, and definitely one, but possibly two more, but considering that the minimum number needed to beat Atheon is four (shut up about warlock self res 2 man teams) I feel like it's likely to be these four only. I know what you're thinking, Pig why would Osiris be in that team? He's never been before! And quite frankly it's simple. Osiris was the Toland of the Vex. If Kabr wanted to actually take out Atheon then he would want the best by his side. Not only that, but the Tread of the Hezen Lords even references Osiris by name.
Rumor has it that the exile Osiris came too close to understanding the Vex
In the fateful Gorgons maze where Kabr lost his original fireteam. This is where he truly went insane. This is where it started to make sense. He recognized once and for all that he could not have opened the vault and gotten this far without a fireteam by his side, so how did he? He lost them here and he knew it, whoever they were. He knew something had to be done so he sacrificed himself to create the Aegis. I understand that i've previously speculated that Kabr was sent into the future by Atheon, but I must apologize that wasn't based on enough fact, I still think a member of the team Praedyth has been sent though. Now there is the fateful, if I speak again I am not Kabr. This still leads to the possibility that he is like I've previously said was correct, but I don't think it likely. I think this means more that because of the armour kabr wore he would have became something different.
For his final venture into the vault he came to the gorgons once again, this could show that he may have only entered once before, his fireteam ready he makes it to Atheon. Both Osiris and Pahanin lived to escape the Vault, but Praedyth wasn't so lucky.
Praedyth's fall isn't over... because it hasn't happened yet... and it will happen again.
This leads me to believe that it was actually when Praedyth was sent into the future by Atheon that he was lost in the dark corners of time. Thus he died to the fireteam, but it hasn't happened yet, and it will happen again. Of course this doesn't actually mean that he died! Simply that he was lost to his team, so isn't it possible that he could come into the game at a later date?
This fight has lost so many. We could assume that the unknown fifth member was also lost in time, perhaps they even died, but what is known is that Osiris and Pahanin escaped. And really, only that Pahanin escaped. Osiris was obsessed with the Darkness even more than Toland, while Toland was more obsessed with the Hive and indriectly the Darkness, Osiris was the other way around, which also encompassed the Vex. I believe that Osiris lived, mostly because of the trials that are coming up about him, for more information about those use this link- http://planetdestiny.com/trials-osiris/
Pahanin went on to create the Super Good Advice to help cope with what he saw in the Vault of Glass. He was killed by Dregen Yor, wielder of the Thorn.
Before he murdered Pahanin, Dredgen Yor ruled the Crucible, the notorious Thorn at his side. - Cloak of Dredgen Yor
But more on him, and his fate in another post.
If you have any theories on the exo stranger after reading this, I highly suggest you search CoK. I've already made a post for her. (In your heads while I'm busy switch Kabr and Praedyth)
Thankyou for reading, your friendly neighborhood AnonPig!
as this is still being read and liked and bumped I thought I'd shamelessly plug my Twitter account here, @AnonPig for all updates and links to projects I will be working on from this point. I will no longer be posting on forums due to recent events that lead to a ban, thankyou for your time.
edit:
To those who wish to claim Kabr is atheon, I used to say then why does Kabr enter, and how does he know of atheon. As I asked that, I realized.
Time is not relative. Just because he becomes atheon after he enters doesn't mean he isn't atheon before he enters.
Now, to those who think Praedyth isn't a guardian.
I do agree that it is likely that Praedyth isn't a person, but it's because of its unlikely ness that I think he is. As you've read Praedyth is directly called he, and if I'm correct in saying all four were in fact members, Praedyth is the only one killed(sorta) by atheon/Kabr.
Update on Praedyth
Recently discussing this with a guardian. I've come to a solid argument that he was a guardian.
Kabr went into the vault and wore living Vex pieces, this caused an assimilation of him into the Vex mind. Just like the Sol Progeny and the Black Heart this went two ways, they influenced him in the ways of their actions, and he influenced them into bypassing the templar unharmed. From there he entered the gorgons labyrinth and sacrificed himself to create the aegis.
Praedyth did similar, he created weapons to fight against the Vex. Assimilated into their network and cast into the future he also created the Vex Mythoclast.
