What ever happened to propaganda like this? Propaganda that fueled the people's desire to oppose the forces of evil at play in our modern world. When did America become so apathetic to the world around us? When did America begin routing for the enemy team? When did we start acting empathetic towards those who would see us annihilated?
Take Iran for example. They chant 'death to America' and yet we still have the audacity to try and negotiate with them! Foolery!
^Death to America
Imagine, a Disney short depicting the brutality and evil nature of enemies like ISIS. Wouldn't that be something? Of course it'll never happen, because instead of pointing out, clearly, the distinct moral differences between us and our enemies, we pussy-foot around the truth and try to distort it.
Even now, people claim that this Disney short (in particular) is wrong. As if pointing out the horrors of nazism was wrong. I'm so sick of our society being filled with daft twats! If I had it my way, companies in the film industry wouldn't hesitate to put out 'anti-anti-american' (yes, two anti's) film. Political correctness is a cancer. And many people, even here in the Flood, are guilty of spreading it.

Just felt like getting that off my chest. Feel free to act all self-righteous and preachy. 'Oh! Well I don't believe in propaganda! It's baaaAAAaaaAAAd...'

A) Propaganda is bad. B) Next time the U.S. Goes into a total war expect this to pop up again.

Those who don't know history are doomed to repeat it. Edmund Burke nationalism is almost as bad as religious fevors. Both tend to do irrational and harmful things in the name of an idea that fades with time. America probably has some of the most boastful and national pride (verbally atleast) than any other country IMO. We don't need to turn the propaganda wheels any further. I'm guessing you haven't read 1984?

Remember when propaganda was good -blam!- I'm old Only 90s kids will get this

You should know ISIS is on the other side of the world, they aren't very powerful, and they are not going to attack America anytime soon. People say "Death to America" everywhere in the Middle East, most don't mean it. It is the current media propaganda that convinces us that ISIS is a big problem, similar to the Ebola scare. And for the last time, ISIS and Iran are completely different. One is a recognized nation, and the other is a rouge militant group fighting that recognized nation.

You do realize propaganda's whole purpose is not to educate but to manipulate everyone into a certain mindset or belief? No matter how banal or non-malignant it is. It is also commonly featured next to secret police forces and tyrannical governance. Even the U.S. Has had a fairly prolific propaganda machine at varying points in U.S. History. To have a propaganda machine running for indefinitely is not a sign of a healthy state but of a deteriorating one. It is a tool used by governments, insurgents, businesses and interest groups. It usually acts as a red flag

If you need a cartoon to tell you something is bad, you got bigger problems than political correctness.

Walt Disney is the man

To all you hippies out there.... Kys

When your country truly needs war, propaganda isn't necessary. The people will know when to fight.
-
What's the point of propaganda when you simply tell the media what to show the people?

The enemy of our enemy is not necessarily our friend. Views aren't distorted, they are more comprehensive, more aware and knowledgable of the complexity of situations. The truly daft are those that cannot see past the false dichotomy of "Us" and "Them".

One day we might educate the south.

Americans are inundated with more propaganda now than ever before.

Edited by Britton: 8/24/2015 2:43:04 AMSo you don't think having an accurate perspective of reality that makes a person take the all implications of a course of action into account is a good thing? You'd rather have blind support to a cause regardless of the motive and possible outcomes? You're a moron. And you're in fact advocating your own version of political correctness. Hypocrite.

It grew up, got a green card, and became fox and cnn

I find the 40s-50s fascinating, such an advanced culture making propaganda rather than more respectable ways of gaining support.

I try to not take a proper gander at the propaganda

Edited by DB5: 8/24/2015 3:05:23 AMWell in regards to IS, it really doesn't take much prodding to convince the American public that that group is horrible. Their own videos do that. Now part of what makes propaganda difficult in US society is the easy access to the Internet and other resources. Such access is a cornerstone of Western value, but it at the same time makes people less susceptible to overt propaganda.
