What exactly is the Deep Stone Crypt? I know its the name of the exo subroutine but do you know anything more about it?

All Exos visit it in a dream. Some visit it peacefully, while others slaughter an army made of everyone they meet. It's description in the Ghost Fragment: Legends card sounds strikingly similar to the Vex Citadel and the lands surrounding it. When you think about how Dr. Shim and his team visited the Citadel in [i]proxy, robotic bodies[/i]... a conspiracy begins to take shape ;)

So if exos are related to the vex somehow. Is it possible that they were created by humans using vex knowledge/tech to serve as a defense against them? Since Vex have been around for a while it is safe to assume during the golden age most of them were in some kind of stasis. That means humans built exos knowing that one day they would awaken?

The Exos were created to fight a forgotten enemy back in the Golden Age. But I believe that they were originally created with one of the proxy bodies of Shim's team

True. There were actually different stories based on what race you picked. Awoken fought fallen as they fled from the reef. Human was escaping to a city evac from a farming colony outside its walls. Exk was found outside the cosmodrome. Youbalso werent supposed to find thatbship till the end of the near the end of the game when you crash on earth escaping from the reef. There is so much of the origional story that makes you wonder what couldve been. I hear you even fought Dredgen Yor in the Trials of Osiris to get his gun, and that you fought alongside Kabr to get to the bottom of the VoG where he forged himself into the relic so you could beat him. Pataince and Time was also a personal gift from Cayde-6, and it was called "Better than yours" It also had a perk where you could shoot ammo boxes to pick them up. Soooo much has changed.
