"No exotics left behind" V3
Well since the V2 post was taken down I am going to make a V3 and see what happens( most likely downvoted to oblivion). Nonetheless I still feel that these posts should continue until the issue of Y1 exotics is discussed in the Weekly Update. I will not be blaming anyone or anything for the current issue at hand nor make any updates about the status of the post to prevent any risk of violation of forum rules. Now as the post suggests this is to bring all year 1 exotics forward into year 2 giving them the same attack and defense values as year 2 exotics. The amount of time us players have put into Destiny to obtain these year 1 exotics should be respected going forward. We should be allowed to have the option to use year 1 exotics, year 2 exotics, or a combination of both. By expanding the pool of exotics the diversity in Destiny will increase allowing more options for players to choose their exotics based on their various playstyles. Like, dislike, bump, sign, or leave a comment of your opinion of whether you are for or against bringing all year 1 exotics to year 2.

All exotics should be continued into "year two". I've had to level my ghally, ice breaker etc three separate times now, although the third time wasn't that bad I'll admit. So, why cut them off now? Maybe here's why... Let's be honest, Bungie doesnt want us melting bosses as easily as we 've been doing it, and they want casuals to be able to enjoy all of the content. Comes down to the guy who beat Skolas by himself the first week using Ghally and Icebreaker and on the other side of the skill spectrum there were thousands spending 7 hours trying to best Skolas. Both sides caught Bungie's attention because he did it so easy, and the other because honestly they complained, a lot on these forums. Balance the guns, problem solved...or not.

I can't believe we have to campaign so hard for this to happen. It should have been taken for granted that our exotics would come with us until eventually 'Destiny2' was released.

Yes they do need to be brought forward. OR AT THE VERY LEAST let us have some input on what exotics get carried forward! The fact that just select exotics would be pushed fwd in yr 2 was subtly dropped during the reveal stream and not much else was said on it. Would love to know how and why each exotic that did get a yr 2 version did in the first place.

Thought of a cool thing to do with old exotic armour that isn't being brought into year 2... Put the perks into the existing subclasses to make them feel fresher and bring them in line with the new classes. For example voidwalkers are losing nothing manacles why not add the perk to angry magic but to keep it balanced remove the extra grenade? The same can be done for the other classes as well, Arachnid perk added to the over the horizon perk The peregrine grieves perk to shoulder charge to make it more viable in pve Obviously not all of them would work but most would and it would give the old subclasses something new to play around with

Bump. They nerfed the stuff that needed nerfing and buffed the stuff that needed buffing. Why bother if it's all getting left in content that can only be played for nostalgia purposes and the non leveled crucible? Makes no sense. It's like putting new upholstery in a car before taking it to the scrapyard to be retired.

I'd like for exotics to be able to come forward with us as Destiny grows, but I don't think it should be as simple as ascension was, I believe we would feel much better if we were able to sacrifice other weapons to slowly upgrade our exotics to a usable level, and perhaps build a quest around redeeming former exotics, where we have to gather light(motes of light or some other form of light added for this purpose), a specific material based on the gun, and a quest item that has to be found on a specific planet or mission, until finally it is brought to the gunsmith, or perhaps even the speaker because of the light needed.

Cant they just lower the damage value or year 1 weapons so they are a couple of % lower than year 2 exotics so they are still somewhat viable but to maximise damage then you need to try and use the year 2 weapons

1 ReplyAgreed. I'm fine with legendaries not moving forward but not exotics. And I'm certainly not fine with bungie choosing which exotics I get to use in year 2. Bring them all forward.

Next week on #Destiny: "No exotics left behind" V9006 But seriously, I can understand certain weapons not making the cut because they're either overused or barely used. But the Raid Exotics and the few that actually got a buff should be joining the Y2 parade. Why buff the Necro in almost everything and even increase the Husk drop rate if they cant be taken to Y2 anyway?
