This thread just turned into an "Insult OP for standing on the ledge" thread. It doesn't matter how you fight, you still get the same reward. As someone who almost always prefers to use that ledge, I'd be fine with going down there. I wouldn't even care if someone pushed me off and gave a little wave afterwards. Anyone who's a jerk about it completely deserves what's coming to them, however.
