If you rely on self res then you need to re evaluate your skill level. You should pop your super at every opportunity.

It was VOID BURN. What I was saying is why would you bother throwing away Bloom + novabomb and vortex grenades on void burn if you are not at least using the solar super to self-res? It's -blam!-ing stupid.

Yes, you should run Voidwalker, however if he is running sunsinger, he should be using it.

Eh someone of his skill level (standing out in the open getting hit while reloading Ghorn) Probably should save his ulti for self res.

I actually agree with that. Self res is a crutch. Same with Gjallahorn. The bad juju is fun to use and a good weapon at the same time, so there is no penalty to use it. I just wish it had an elemental damage.
