"Good to have you with us." "Anyway, this is to block random unauthorized teleportation and things like it."

And how would this block such a thing?

"I don't know exact details, but there is some sort of core I took from a similar device the Echelon controlled. The core seems to distort the space in this location on a microscopic and seemingly harmless level. This distortion will prevent teleportation as the area is not stable enough."

"I reverse engineered Echelon's teleport-blockers, and modified it. Once I turn it on, teleportation, portals, rifts, and whatever else you wish to travel through will be blocked anywhere on the ship or 2km around it. UNLESS, you get clearance, from me."
