Not necessarily, depends how they implement it, in Diablo III you automatically acquire the Transmog to every weapon and armor you ever acquire, and you can salvage that item but you'll always keep every Transmog you ever get, allowing you to transform any weapon or armor to look like any other item of the same type you've ever possessed.
It's such an obviously good feature I don't know why every game doesn't have it (or something comparable).

Yeah I've had WoW where they came up with their own solution of storage for transmog. There are ways around it, but considering how they've been over increasing the size of things like vault space or bounty slots, I don't see that being near the top of their list. Though as they are introducing the blueprint and shader terminals perhaps they could do one for your gear, but it'd be quite big if you consider all the different weapons, armours, cloaks etc that there are in the game.

Yeah it'd be good not to look like everybody else. But I still use a rare cloak as I like the look of it (was a white one I liked but i dismantled it by accident a long time ago). I'm sure there are other good rare weapons and armour that would be good to transmog, even uncommons and commmons. That'd be a very very long list of items which would require a lot of work from them. It'd be nice sure, just not sure we'll be seeing it any time soon and if we do they'll probably limit it to exotics and legendaries which would be a bit of a shame.

Edited by Lucius Aelius: 8/26/2015 5:15:30 PMI agree, some of the nicest looking weapons I've seen were Rares, at least I mainly just care about armor though and my favorite Warlock armor was the original legendary Vendor gear, I had the Vanguard Chest piece and New Monarchy everything else, and I've never been as happy with my character as I was then as a 28, so bummed that I Dismantled it but I assumed I'd be finding better looking stuff later on... A foolish thing to do in retrospect, because every newer armor set they introduced looks progressively worse and more ridiculous than the last.
-
Seems to be the case with most games, the gear in WoW became progressively worse everytime, with the exception of the level 70 raid and arena gear that looked awesome, everything else sucked big time and began to look completely fake. In most cases originals are the best. dismantled my armour too though kept a few weapons. If they do introduce transmog though you'd still be missing out on that old gear, would have to use all these new armour sets.

If they do introduce Diablo style Transmog they'd better make it retroactive for items you've owned, there's almost no point if I can't use the armor I like, that's the whole point of having Transmog in the first place
-
But is destiny able to remember items you've previously owned? Depends how much information they have stored.

Edited by Lucius Aelius: 8/26/2015 5:36:29 PMIf it doesn't then they should just make the original gear Transmog available to everyone by default, whether they've owned it or not. I don't care about having a unique look that no one else can get anymore, I just want a proper variety for everyone so that everyone can look how they like and not all look the same.

One can only hope :)
