Bro, the game was already designed to let me keep my weapons, and all they had to do was included existing gear in the new Infusion mechanic. They redesigned it away from that, so don't try to be a smart ass. ;) Also- by your logic;
What's the point of adding new DLC maps if people still play the old ones?

Why make new Star Wars movies if people still watch the old ones?

What's the point of making new memories if you still remember the old ones?
They want you to leave your old weapons and get new ones. Thats how these games work. Destiny is still a RPG. Still, whats the point of buying a new expansion if you want to keep your old weapons. Play the old content all over again if you want. Expansions are expansions, meaning that you will grind all over again for better loot. If you could keep your old weapons, there would be no content left in TTK.

No content? 3/4 new strikes, revamped "Taken" strikes, tons of new Crucible modes, new story missions, and a RAID don't count as new content...?

Its over in week. After that the only content you have left is to collect weapons and armors. Story will be over in probaply undr 6hrs. Strikes are over in few hours. Raid will take multiple hours in the first run. After that people are fastrunning it in under 1 hour. Roaming with new location its magical in the first time. After that i bet you are not even roaming. So there is your content. Destiny is not a good RPG, because it lacks with content. True MMORPG games have 4x more content with their 20$ expansions than TTK can give you with 40$.
