I recently started playing again since I feel Bungie has addressed a lot of the issues I had with the game, but the lack of matchmaking for these modes remains the single biggest problem for me. The majority of my friends just aren't into Destiny and prefer other games, and because of this I basically get locked out of all this great content as I'm playing. It just doesn't seem right, I've played the game a whole lot and enjoy the gameplay, but it's putting up barriers in front of modes I would really like to try, when it should be helping and encouraging me to engage with that content. It could be completely optional, and heck they could even put up a difficulty warning and suggest that teams really need to work together, I can't imagine anyone having a problem with that... And who cares if more teams fail? There's no penalty for failing. Also, if they want to stick with this philosophy with Raids, that's one thing, but withholding matchmaking from the weekly nightfall and prison of elders is baffling to me. These are standard multiplayer modes that most people in matchmaking would be able to handle. And again, if they can't, then so be it, but please give us the option!
The changes they've made to the leveling system, as well as merging the mark currencies (not to mention removing the weekly cap, what was that idea about anyways? It's like they wanted me to stop playing) have made me really like the game, but I still won't love it until they implement some damn matchmaking across all modes lol
