Blind devotion is usually a side effect of a need for security. Over seeking security driven people can be obsessive etc devotion is devotion. It's an honest thing. Devotion based on security is a different thing and usually is based on needing something rather than love or it working both ways. An equally loving couple etc will just have a working level of devotion that works together in a balanced way. If one person is overly devoted then the other most likely they will be on the short end of the stick at some point.
