Warlocks originated from the Collapse as leaders and intellectuals who were used to ordering people around, and likely had their way for decades, as Titans were the early majority of Guardians. Hunters emerged later from the Wilderness, and were less inclined to follow rules (both orders from superiors and the laws of the City) and less official. The battle over looks, however, likely stems from conflict between the Warlock's officious, military trench coat/wizard look, clashing with the rebellious looks preferred by Hunters. Titans (who's armour is both beautiful AND functional) don't have time for such squabbles.
