Why not just add a section to the tool tip when you hover your cursor over a weapon or armor piece. It could say something like "Found from level 28 Prison of Elders chest"
"Awarded for completing a weekly nightfall"
It may just reduce all the boasting and arguments on the forum every weekend.
Plus, it might make your favorite weapon a little more special to you. It might turn some of your junk into trophies.
What do you guys think?
Edit: Yes, it isn't a flawless idea (maybe not a very good one at that). I see many of the problems it could create the more I think about it. But, I would be interested to see where I found some of my stuff. Having the ability to see only your own items wouldn't even be good though. It would create more threads that contain screenshots of their inventory as proof haha. Perhaps the solution is to simply ignore them.

I dont think the issue is about the guns, its about separating "hardcore" and "casuals" The phrase "have gjallarhorn" was kind of like a filter for people to use. It was far from perfect, but it worked alright. Normally people that had a gjallarhorn were pretty good at the game. Now everybody has one and its hard to seperate "hardcore" and "casual" players. The separation isn't because they hate new people or hate people in general.(at least i hope not) Its so you can have a fast run in whatever you're doing. Im sure everyone has had the experience where people are running a raid, but one guy/girl doesn't get it. You have to deal with them because you already started and just want to finish; for the rest of the raid you get your ass kicked. Thats a horrible experience when you could've had your normal 6th or 5th in there and blown through it. Most people just want their rewards, and newbie players get in the way of it. Some are pretty competent and pick it up quick, but most suck ass and slow the whole process down.

You see thats good for elitists. But, i like my solution better: DONT GIVE A -blam!- ITS MY -blam!-ING WEAPON AND HOW I GOT IT DOESNT MATTER IT STILL WORKS THE SAME -blam!- OFF
-
Edited by zOmgLynn: 8/29/2015 10:46:38 PMShutting the -blam!- up would be nice.
-
Better yet, we can all not care how we get weapons.
Not hating on you OP, I'm just tired of this topic.
-
I believe that would bring about the opposite result. It would certainly give players even more of a reason to boast, and to exclude others.
-
Or people could stop being dumbasses and realize that a weapon is a weapon. It doesn't matter where it came from. People need to stop acting like it actually makes a difference whether the gun was bought or found. You should focus on you, and not everyone else. Xurned/earned it really makes no difference if you're an intolerant scrub who thinks that everyone should experience things the way you did regardless of circumstances. /rant
-
The last thing this community needs is another way to be divisive.
-
Earned/Xurned is not a problem if you're actually atleast 12 years old, so no "solution" needed!
-
HELL NO. This would promote SO MUCH elitism, and would be terrible for the game.
-
"Found in an old box" Very prestigious, I agree.
-
If by chance this does happen, I want my Ghorn to have "Earned by nuking a lone dreg in the cosmodrome."
-
Groups aren't INCLUSIVE, they're EXCLUSIVE. Shouldn't matter to any gamer, how another gamer got some weapon/armor/etc. It's a video game. Get over it.
-
People could use this to kick people who bought things from Xûr. There are people who want to do this. Maybe if the only person who could do this were the person with the item, but then what good does it serve?
-
It may just reduce all the boasting and arguments on the forum every weekend.
Reduce? You're delusional.
-
I'm sorry but why? Who cares where they got it from! All this would do is cause more problems. Why separate the community even more?
-
It would only make it worse. And a lot worse by that.
-
But then there would be the elitists that would check and kick you if you got your gally from xur or got it anywhere but a raid/nightfall.
-
Sounds good to me, although the more personal data we carry around with us everywhere the heavier the load implications. Something this small is low load individually but just imagining all those exotics out there piled up weighing us down would be crazy! 'Engraving' one or two special ones would be great though!
-
That sounds like it would make it worse. I found mine on hard vog. I opened an engram.......
-
I think that's a great idea to be honest.

Self Bump. Genuinely curious to hear what you guys think.
