Yeah, definitely not cool of him to post something as transphobic as that. OP has my support and wishes North AND Bungie acknowledges this. To those who are trying to downplay this, just stop. You don't get to decide what someone else is offended by. If they are going to have a different opinion than you, the mature thing to do without be to listen to them, maybe even inquire as to how they came to that viewpoint. You know, learn from your peers how to, ideally, not be a ignorant bigot.

  • Sure, people can get offended by whatever they want. That doesn't make it everyone else's problem.

  • True, it's not everyone's problem. But calling out intolerance is the only way that this sort of thing will ever change. As the OP points out, for some this is literally life & death.

  • Except that there was no "intolerance" in the twitter post whatsoever. And when people try to shame those who even suggest the slightest hint of opposing opinion, it just makes no one take them seriously. Just like OP.

  • I can't control if people choose to be willfully ignorant to how others live. I can just call out gross behavior when I see it. Hopefully North learned something from how others might view him (and the company he works for) from his statement in the future.

  • But it wasn't transphobic, and the term transphobic to begin with is incorrect as phobia applies to fears of something. People all around need thicker skin, political correctness is going to kill this planet faster than people will.

  • What word would you use to describe an act when someone from a place of higher social privilege makes a comment on social media outlet that millions of people use to make fun someone for their own gender? You picking on the word seems to skirt the issue that North made a remark to pick on the appearance of a trans woman. Words I'd use are rude, insensitive, bigoted. People shouldn't need thicker skin to tolerate intolerance.

  • I wouldn't make a big deal of it to begin with. It was a joke, humor comes in many forms including sarcastic. This is where the thick skin comes in, society today is so...weak I say...that the slightest off-hand remark gets a group of people in an uproar. Nobody wants to speak their mind because they might say something that will offend someone, somewhere. It's called jumping the gun to immediately mark his joke off as intolerance. That's the kind of knee-jerk reaction that brings about the cancer of political correctness.

  • It already has. We are too far gone to come back, IMHO.
