What did Kyle katarn do before becoming a Jedi. (Might have misspelled his last name....)

Imperial officer candidate, then cut ties with the Empire and became a Mercenary/Bounty Hunter. He still is TECHNICALLY a merc, but is mainly assisting the Rebellion nowadays.
